Why Bridget Moynahan Loves Being Mom of Son She Shares With Tom Brady
So happy with her son! Bridget Moynahan loves raising Jack, whom she shares with her ex Tom Brady.
“I think that one thing I love about being a mom is that it takes me outside of myself,” the Blue Bloods star, 47, told Us Weekly exclusively on Wednesday, April 10, at the Our Shoes, Our Shelves book launch at Saks Fifth Avenue (with a portion of book sales donated to GIRLS Inc.). “Coming from a business of being a model and then an actress, it’s a lot of being consumed with what you’re doing or how you look, what your next step is. When you’re a mom, you focus on what’s more important.”
The author gave birth to John “Jack” Edward Thomas in 2007 after splitting from the professional football player, 41. They dated from 2004 to late 2006.
When Brady’s now-wife, Gisele Bündchen, found out that her husband’s ex was expecting a baby, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel, 38, felt like her world had been “turned upside down,” she wrote in her memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life.
Although it wasn’t “an easy time,” the model added: “[Jack made] my heart expand in ways I didn’t know was possible.”
Moynahan had a difficult experience at the time as well, writing in Our Shoes, Our Selves, “Having a baby should have been the most joyous time of my life, but instead I felt assaulted. It’s unnerving to be followed and stalked like that, especially during such an emotionally vulnerable time.”
The New York native added: “I became reclusive for a bit. I became wildly private. I shared little and only with a select few.”
Bündchen and the New England Patriots quarterback tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed two children of their own — Benjamin, 9, and Vivian, 6.
