A wellness influencer has calculated how much of your favorite drinks you can have before gaining a pound of body fat.
Nicole Powell, a TikToker from the UK, shared a breakdown of 15 popular drinks, including beers like Heineken and Guinness, wines and champagne, and cocktails like espresso martinis and vodka sodas.
It takes roughly 3,500 ‘excess’ calories, that’s the calories above someone’s regular diet that maintains their current weight, to gain a pound of fat.
By this metric, you would need to drink nearly 30 glasses of white wine and 40 flutes of champagne above and beyond your normal diet to gain one pound of body fat.
Meanwhile, for beer lovers, it would take more than 15 pints of Heineken and 30 12-ounce bottles of Corona to make your jeans a little tighter.
And you would have to have more than 50 shots of tequila and 60 shots of sambuca before putting on a pound.
It would take 3,500 calories worth of alcohol to gain a pound of body fat. This comes out to as many as 66 shots

However, metabolism differs from person to person based on age, genetics, and other factors, so some people might need fewer or more calories to gain weight.
In the video, which has more than 700,000 views, Ms Powell said she calculated these figures based on an equation by researcher Dr Max Wishnofskly.
In 1958, Mr Wishnofskly found that one pound of body fat is equal to about 3,500 excess calories.
This means that you would have to consume 3,500 calories worth of alcohol on top of your average daily calories.
According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, adult women consume anywhere from 1600 to 2400 calories per day depending on age, and men should get anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 calories per day depending on age.

Some 40 million Americans are currently embarking on a month free of alcohol, as part of the annual Sober October trend.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has said that a 2,000-calorie diet should be standard for most Americans.
Beer is one of America’s favorite beverages, likely because it’s cheaper than cocktails and wine and is easy to find at most bars and restaurants.
The calorie content varies widely for light and dark beers, but a pint typically runs about 200 calories.
A Heineken, for example, has 227 calories per pint. Ms Powell said this means you can have 15 pints before putting on a pound of body fat.
Additionally, Guinness has 210 calories per pint, which comes out to 17-and-a-half-pints before you pack on any extra weight.
Corona Extra, however, comes in a smaller serving size, which is a 12-ounce bottle with 148 calories. It would take 27 bottles to gain a pound of body fat.
Most wines come in slightly lower in calories than beer, though the serving size is smaller. The average glass, which is five ounces, is around 120 calories. Sweeter flavors tend to be higher-calorie, totaling about 160.
Ms Powell said that you can have 26 medium glasses of white wine before putting on body fat.
Additionally, bubblies like champagne and prosecco can reach 37-and-a-half six-ounce flutes before you gain weight.
Cocktails tend to have more calories than beer and wine due to mixing multiple types of alcohol and adding in syrups and other flavors.
Ms Powell said that it would take 15-and-a-half passion fruit martinis, which are mainly made with gin and vermouth, to put on a pound of body weight.
Additionally, you can drink 15 espresso martinis – which are made with vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso, and simple syrup – before gaining one pound.
If a vodka Coke is made with Diet Coke, which is lower in calories than regular Coke, you can drink 64 singles or 32 doubles before you risk putting on weight.
And it would take 66 shots of sambuca before you put on a pound of body weight.
