Don’t get me wrong; I like cocktails just as much as the next gal. But what I don’t like anymore is having three or four of them. I’ll have a Manhattan (my favorite!) when I go out to dinner, but I don’t keep alcohol in my apartment because it’s just not fun to sip on something that’s also going to dehydrate me later. Instead, I’ve been romanticizing my alcohol-free bevies the way they do on TikTok. You know the scene: wine glass, ice filled to the top, and then you pour in a (usually) sparkling beverage and enjoy it as if your couch is actually a cushioned booth in a trendy bar.

Doing this in the afternoon has become the perfect way to keep me going during that 3 or 4 p.m. lull during the workday, and the drink I’ve been reaching for as of late is Moment. Not only is Moment alcohol-free and super refreshing, but it’s also packed with adaptogens like L-theanine, ashwagandha, and tulsi. In other words, it brings more to my (wine) glass than a tasty flavor. Read on to learn more about Moment and why it’s become my go-to.

So, what exactly are adaptogens?

Adaptogens come from herbs, roots, and other plant substances (like mushrooms) and have been used for thousands of years. They are known to boost energy (sans caffeine) and help regulate cortisol levels to decrease stress. They’re perfect for when those times when you need a little push —you know, like when you get a surprise one-hour Zoom meeting invite an hour before you’re supposed to log off of work. Some studies also suggest that they can help increase athletic performance, lower the risk of heart disease, and help you sleep better.

Moment flavors & where to buy them

My problem with most sparkling waters or canned mocktails is that they tend to be loaded with sugar and calories. I have the opposite of a sweet tooth. When I taste a drink that has too much sugar, I can literally feel it ache on my teeth (I know, I’m a freak). But my favorite flavor of Moment, the sparkling lychee mint, has 0 sugar and is just 15 calories, and the rest of the flavors are similar in that they don’t taste too sweet.

But the real reason I keep reaching for these is the flavors. They’re not just water with a hint of flavor. Each can contains natural botanicals like ginger, thyme, and hibiscus that blend together to create a yummy mocktail taste sans chemicals or fake flavoring. It’s seriously a win-win.

Keep a pack of these in your fridge for when you need your own moment of mood-boosting. They’re available online and come in still and sparkling. You can customize the types of packs you order or get the 18-pack mix that has both still and sparkling flavors. If you need another tip, I’m obsessed with the sparkling lychee mint, the lemon turmeric, and blueberry ginger flavors. Try them for yourself to see what the hype is all about.
