Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry show so much PDA in front of cameras

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have long made headlines for how much affection they show in public compared to other royals. The two almost always hold hands, they’ve kissed at a couple of events, and they’re constantly staring adoringly at each other, including when photographers are around. But to those who theorize that they’re playing up their romance in public for attention, Us Weekly‘s source has a reality check. The PDA is all genuine. “None of it is an act,” the source said. Meghan and Harry really are that blissfully into each other.”

ELLE.com was told similarly by a source earlier this summer that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s romance is the real deal. The couple couldn’t be happier together right now. “This is how you want the man that your best friend is with to look at her. It’s really lovely,” a friend told ELLE.com.

And no, Meghan and Harry holding hands and being affectionate in public does not break royal protocol. “It’s up to each and every royal and royal couple how affectionate they are,” Beaumont Etiquette’s founder and director Myka Meier, a British-American trained by a former member of the Queen’s household, told ELLE.com in July 2018. “There’s no protocol that tells them they can’t hug or kiss or touch. There’s no rule book like that. Each senior member of the royal family is trusted to make the judgement calls of what’s appropriate and when. It’s all about being trusted to make those calls on their own.”
