Meet Folx, the brand changing healthcare for queer and trans people
The discussion around healthcare for the average person is murky at best. However, queer and trans people face a whole different experience. Folx, a digital healthcare start-up, is hoping to change that by meeting the needs of queer and trans folks where big healthcare falls short.
Per the US Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, LGBTQIA+ people face a number of health disparities. Not to mention, those disparities are vastly different compared to cisgender and heterosexual people.
Founded by A.G. Breitenstein, who identifies as genderqueer (she/they), Folx partners with LGBTQIA+ clinicians and professionals to bring top-tier specialists together to offer services to those who need it most.
What Folx Provides
As for what the brand hopes to accomplish, Folx is addressing common heath concerns for LGBTQIA+ people. The scope of the brand’s services includes things like gender-affirming hormone therapy, sexual health and family creation. In addition, members can also receive treatments. From PrEP and HRT to at-home STI testing, members have the space to treat themselves comfortably at home. Folx will also offer free virtual visits to members.
To help jump start the revolutionary initiative, the brand is backed by well-established partners including Define Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners and Polaris Partners.
Folx is one of the first brands targeting LGBTQIA+-friendly treatments in healthcare. Those who want to enroll in a plan, which are as low as $59 per month, can sign up here. Folx will be onboarding new members on a rolling basis into January 2021.
