Diabetes is a common condition that’s been diagnosed in about five million people across the UK. The condition might be caused by eating certain foods, or by not doing enough exercise. Saturated fats and carbohydrates could particularly increase your risk of diabetes, warned ITV This Morning’s Dr Sara.
About 90 percent of all diabetes cases are caused by type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes describes where the body struggles to produce enough of the hormone insulin, or it struggles to react to insulin.
The hormone is used to convert sugar in the blood into useable energy.
Without enough insulin, sugar builds up in the bloodstream, which could have a number of serious consequences.
If you have diabetes, it’s essential that you follow a healthy diet, while managing your blood sugar levels.
While takeaway dinners are always an easy option, you could be raising your chances of blood sugar spikes by eating too many.
If you’re desperate to have a takeaway, however, you should avoid eating too many pizzas, warned Dr Sara.
While it’s perfectly okay to enjoy yourself every now and again, you should avoid consistently eating takeaway pizzas, she said.

“I always hate to say this, because it’s probably one of my faves, but a pizza is not ideal,” Dr Sara told Express Health.
“I suppose because it’s a high volume of carbohydrates, and saturated fat with all the cheese on top.
“We all know that no-one ever goes for the vegetable toppings – everyone always opts for something greasy like the pepperoni, which is a highly processed meat, so probably not the best…
“But having said that, it’s still yummy. So again, in moderation… don’t deny yourself that big greasy pizza, just have it with enough time between orders.”
But just because you have diabetes, it doesn’t mean that you have to completely cut out pizza, added charity Diabetes UK.
Instead, try opting for a smaller portion, while choosing your toppings carefully.
Cut back on the deep pan pizza bases, instead choosing a thin crust variety.
…and don’t forget, it’s much better to fill up on a side salad with your pizza instead of eating the whole thing.
It’s not always easy to know if you’re at risk of diabetes, because the symptoms don’t necessarily make you feel unwell.
The most common symptoms include fatigue, passing more urine than normal, and feeling very thirsty.
It’s vital that you speak to a doctor as soon as possible if you think you might have diabetes.
Left untreated, the condition can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
