Ashley Graham Opens Up About The "Messy Parts" Of Postpartum Recovery

In the photo, she’s wearing a disposable pair of grey boyshorts and covering her eyes. “Raise your hand if you didn’t know you’d be changing your own diapers too🙋🏻‍♀️ After all these years in fashion I never could’ve guessed that disposable underwear would be my favourite piece of clothing but here we are!” Ashley wrote. “No one talks about the recovery and healing (yes even the messy parts) new moms go through. I wanted to show you guys that it’s not all rainbows and butterflies!”

FYI: During pregnancy and after childbirth, as many as 40 percent of women experience urinary incontinence, where activities like laughing, coughing, and sneezing put extra pressure on the bladder sphincter.

Last week, Ashley and husband Justin Ervin introduced their baby boy to the world on Ashley’s “Pretty Big Deal” podcast, where they revealed the meaning behind his name, Isaac Menelik Giovanni Ervin. “Menelik” came from her recent trip to Ethiopia, where she learned the name of the country’s first emperor meant “son of the wise.” “Giovanni” is an Italian version of John, which is a family name on both sides.

As for the baby’s first name, Justin knew he’d name his son Isaac since he himself was a kid: “My sister Kia and I would have discussions about, ‘Oh, one day, when we have kids’. I brainstormed my own name for my future son, and I knew it was gonna be Isaac,” he said.

Ashley also revealed that after giving birth to Isaac, she told her husband, “Now we’re family forever.”
