How to burn belly fat WITHOUT exercising: Eat these eight foods

Struggling to fit exercise into your weekly regime?

You’ll be pleased to know that you can make abs in the kitchen.

Toning your tummy can be as easy as incorporating fat-burning foods into your diet.

Here’s what you should be eating for weight loss.

Eight foods that will help you to burn belly fat, according to science:

1. Porridge

This breakfast staple releases slowly in the body, so can require more energy to digest.

It also stabilises blood sugar, which should keep you feeling fuller for longer.

According to Maeve Madden, fitness influencer and author of recipe book Beat the Bloat, these foods help to reduce bloating.

Maeve explained: “Eating more fibre rich foods like these can be an effective way to control weight.

“Fibre has no magical fat-burning properties but can help you to feel satisfied in much smaller quantities, keeping you feeling fuller for longer.”

4. Chilli peppers

Spicy foods have been found to boost metabolism by up to 20%.

Chillis also contain capsaicin, a compound that aids weight loss and improves heart health.

A study published in the NCBI found that the peppers encourage the body to use up energy – and therefore, fat.

It noted:  “Meta-analysis findings suggest that daily consumption of capsaicinoids may contribute to weight management through reductions in energy intake.

“Subsequently, there may be potential for capsaicinoids to be used as long-term, natural weight-loss aids.”

5. Low fat yoghurt

Experts believe products that are packed with amino acids and calcium are good for weight loss.

This is the case for many dairy products, including low fat yoghurt.

Dr Michael Zemel, a scientist at the University of Tennessee explored how this food affected obese patients.

His study found that those who ate yoghurt dropped 10lbs of fat in 12 weeks.

They also saw their waists shrink by an inch and half, suggesting the product is good for shifting belly bulk.

6. Eggs

Alexandra Miller, a corporate dietician, said protein-rich foods can aid weight loss.

This is because they keep you feeling fuller for longer, which prevents over-eating.

Eggs are a great source of the nutrient – and they are also believed to help the body burn fat.

A study published in the International Journal of Obesity found that eating the animal product for breakfast is beneficial.

Participants who ate a vegetable omelette for breakfast lost twice as much weight as those who ate carbs.

Researchers also noted that those who ate eggs had a 16% greater reduction in body fat.

7. Whey protein

The food can suppress appetite as it releases hormones that keep you feeling fuller for longer, including PYY and GLP-1.

A study published in the NCBI measured the affect of whey protein on 22 men.

It found that these participants had less cravings and therefore consumed less calories as mealtimes.

Further research was carried out by  Radavelli-Bagatini of Edith Cowan University.

It showed that the supplement can boost fat burning potential of those who are both lean and overweight.

8. Tomato juice

According to a study, published in the Journal of Nutrition, sipping on a daily glass of tomato juice can drastically slim your waistline – without you needing to make any other changes to your diet.

Researchers found that women who guzzled a 280ml glass of the veggie drink each day lost 50% more belly fat over an eight-week period.

What’s more, most of the ladies lost more than a pound in body weight.

The tasty beverage was also found to reduce cholesterol levels in the body.
